Larry Paul Himel

Larry Paul Himel was born on June 07, 1955 and passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026 at the age of 70 surrounded by his beloved sister, Catherine “Cat” Ward; his brother, Leroy Himel; and dear friends, David “Tib” Thibodeaux and Memaw.

Born and raised in Donaldsonville, LA, he spent many years in Ascension Parish where he resided at the time of his passing.

He was preceded in death by parents Theophile and Josephine Himel. Larry was the beloved brother of: Catherine Ward, Connie Thibodaux, Leroy Himel and Leo Himel (Brenda) and the late Judith “Nettie” Sparks, Beatrice Walker, Marie Palermo, Rita Mae Goetz, Jeanne Darcie, Cynthia Goetz, Joyce Diez, AJ Himel, O’Neil Himel and Linwood Himel. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Larry loved the farming industry and never saw a tractor he didn’t admire- he could talk farming and equipment for hours. When he wasn’t working, you could find him at the casino trying his luck on the slots, visiting family and friends, fishing or humming while enjoying a good home-cooked meal. Larry leaves behind great memories, plenty of stories, and a reminder to laugh often, love family and enjoy the simple things.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Angelina Collier for being such a dear friend to Larry and her loving care and support during his final days.

The visitation for family will begin at 9:30 am and friends are welcome to join in at 10am with a service at 12 noon at Ourso Funeral Home, 134 Houmas St. in Donaldsonville.
