Maxine was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Cyril, and a loving mother to her children: Troy H. Bourgoyne; Brett P. Bourgoyne and his wife, Sherrie; Kim Bourgoyne Colligan and her husband, Ted; Robert P. Bourgoyne; and Jon Mark Bourgoyne-Gros and his husband, Jean Gros Bourgoyne. She was also a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her faith was the center of her world, followed closely by her family, who brought her immense joy and purpose.
Maxine was known for speaking her mind and always saying exactly what she felt, a trait that those who loved her came to appreciate deeply. As a child, she had a mischievous spirit and was often the class clown in school. She never turned down a dare and had a way of making family and friends laugh until they cried.
A faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Smoke Bend, Maxine devoted her time as a volunteer at the church fair, where she found joy in serving her community and connecting with others. Her faith was an important part of her life and a guiding light to all who knew her.
She also had a deep passion for painting and crafts, and through her creativity she brought beauty, warmth, and joy into the lives of those around her. Her happiest moments were often spent creating, sharing, and giving from the heart.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong will, loving heart, and the laughter she brought to every room she entered.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Cyril Bourgoyne; her parents, Achille and Ella Denoux; siblings Ella Mae Poirrier, Merlin J. Denoux, Achille “Smokie” Denoux, Henry A. Denoux, and Lannie Denoux; sisters-in-law Betty Denoux, Carleen Denoux brothers-in-law Emile Spano and Leo Poirrier; and daughter-in-law Pamela L. Bourgoyne and Godchild Carlin Poirrier Murry.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 9:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Smoke Bend, Louisiana. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Father Matt Dupre will officiate.
Maxine’s legacy of love, faith, creativity, and family will live on and in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
