

Rosa Mae Blanchard Cancienne, a lifelong resident of Belle Rose, Louisiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the evening of September 25, 2017, at the age of 88. Rosa Mae, “Maw Maw”, was deeply loved by her family, especially her grandchildren who adored her. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, Patrick Cancienne Sr., her brother Philip Blanchard and wife Frances Ann, and her sons, Ed Cancienne and wife Betsy, Joe Cancienne and wife Cathy, Peter Cancienne and wife Virginia, John Cancienne and wife Michele, Sam Cancienne and wife Phyllis, and James Cancienne; 12 grandchildren, Patrick Cancienne III and wife Jeanne, Mary Elizabeth Cancienne Bernhardt, Camille Cancienne Quinn and husband Charlie, Sarah Cancienne Musser and husband Nick, Joseph Cancienne, Emily Cancienne, John Paul Cancienne and wife Elizabeth, Jourdan Cancienne, Angelle Cancienne, Anna Rose Cancienne, Sam Cancienne Jr., and Renee Cancienne; 8 great grandchildren, Patrick Cancienne IV, John Clay Cancienne, Brooks Cancienne, Lizzy Bernhardt, Joanie Bernhardt, Caroline Cancienne, John Paul Cancienne II, and Mae Quinn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosa and Samuel Blanchard, her brother, Samuel Blanchard, and her great grandchild Lily Marie Cancienne. Visitation will be held at St. Jules Catholic Church, 7161 Hwy. 1, Belle Rose, Louisiana on Friday, September 29, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until Mass at 12:00 noon, officiated by the Reverend Donald Blanchard, a lifelong dear friend of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Joseph Abbey, St. Benedict, Louisiana.
