He was born in Birmingham, AL on May 19, 1951 where he attended school and graduated from Banks High School in 1970.
He was a truck driver who drove trucks for several different companies. Sidney’s early years of driving trucks included working for Adams Brothers Produce and Dixieland Produce in the Birmingham, AL area. He later drove a truck from Birmingham to Louisiana carrying produce for Pizzolato. It was on one of these trips that he met the love of his life whom he married, Janice Medine. He relocated to Donaldsonville, LA to be near his wife's family where he continued his love for driving trucks. He carried sugarcane and crawfish during his years in the area.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Medine White; three children, Mary Elizabeth White of Anchorage, AK, Kellie Gilham (Brian), and Kristie Watt (Nolan) of Birmingham, AL, five grandchildren; one great grandchild who was born within hours of Sidney’s passing; one brother, Joel White (Gail) of Spanish Fort; his first cousin, Barry Hutner of Atlanta, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by parents, James and Ruth White.
A memorial service for Sidney will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at The Church International, 613 W 7th Street, Donaldsonville, Louisiana 70346.
