

He was born on December 29, 1941 in Shreveport, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents Ephram Leeman Vice and Maudie Mae Vice. Sister Doris Watson and husband Robert Watson, Brother Jimmy Vice and Sister Shirley Coffin. He is also preceded in death by the most gracious couple who took him in under their wing, John and Gladys Barthold and their son Ronnie Barthold.
He is survived by his dedicated wife of 49 years, Catherine (Kitty) Myers Vice who he lovingly called his “Sweet Kitty Leigh”. Son Bill Vice and wife Gabriella of Prairieville, LA, daughter Marci DeLaune and husband Darren of Conway, AR, son Beau Vice and wife Kacie of Gonzales, LA and six grandchildren Dustin, Darren Jr. “D”, Dillon, Kara, Vincent, Liam and one great grandchild Marley Kate. He is also survived by special family Larry Barthold and his wife Carol of Bow, WA, Debbie Barthold Kerr and husband Tommy Kerr of Shreveport, LA, numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Billy was a graduate of Nicholls State University. He retired from an outstanding career of thirty-five years teaching and coaching at Ascension Catholic High School and Redemptorist Catholic High School. Billy influenced many lives as he strived for the personal development and success of young men and women.
He enjoyed fishing with his “Kitty Leigh”, children and friends, fishing trips to Leeville, coffee out by the bayou and attending sporting events for his grandchildren. He had a remarkable love for the outdoors and an appreciation of God’s creation.
As a dear friend quoted, “God has a new defensive coordinator in heaven today. Coach Vice touched the lives of so many young men and women over the years. He was a special man with special ways and loved and respected by all.”
The joys of Billy’s life were his wife, Children, Grandchildren and special Friends.
Honoring Billy as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dustin, D, Dillon and Friends, Bucky Mistretta, Gene Harrell and David Ballas. Honorary Pallbearers Larry Barthold, Ron Jenkins and Donald Ruiz.
Visitation will take place at Ourso Funeral Home, Thursday, June 19th at 6pm- 9pm at 134 Houmas Street, Donaldsonville, La. 70346. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20th at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, 716 Mississippi Street at 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. celebrated by Fr. Phil Spano and Fr. Paul Yi. Interment to follow in church cemetery.
