I have many good memories of playing with Austin as young teens, back when I lived on Guirado Street.  Those days were very memorable, I can vividly remember us playing with his dogs in the backyard, where we had to be careful to not mess up the white lilies next to the storage garages. He was a constant presence throughout my teenage years and that time is irreplaceable. Austin is greatly missed and both Gustavo & Sandra provided a wonderful family to grow up alongside.  Please accept my most sincere condolences.

Today we remember Austin with love, gratitude, and deep tenderness. Though our hearts ache, we honor a soul whose quiet presence brought calm, warmth, and meaning to those who knew him.
From the very beginning, Austin carried strength — I remember holding him when he was just one year old, already big, already solid. Yet alongside that strength lived a gentle, thoughtful spirit. Austin didn’t need many words. His calm, his intelligence, and his steady way of being spoke for him. He had a gift for making people feel welcomed, especially at home, where his heart truly lived.
Austin was deeply connected to his family, and above all, to his mother. He was a mama’s boy in the most beautiful sense — loved, cherished, and held by my aunt Sandra with a devotion that shaped who he became. Sandra’s love was his foundation. The goodness, kindness, and peace Austin carried were reflections of the care and love he received from her.
Sandra, your love did not fail him — it raised him. And it does not end now. A mother’s love is eternal, and even in this pain, that bond remains unbroken. God walks with you in your sorrow, holding you when your strength feels gone, and gently reminding you that your son’s spirit is safe, at peace, and surrounded by divine light.
Austin’s life was meaningful. He mattered deeply. His presence left a mark of quiet strength and sincerity that will continue to live in memory and spirit. Though he is no longer physically here, his love remains, and that love will continue to comfort, guide, and protect those who carry him in their hearts.
Austin will always be remembered. Always cherished. Always loved.

From the moment I met Austin, he was pure kindness and humor personified, a true light in this life. What began as working side by side quickly grew into a bond that felt like brotherhood. We teased each other, shared stories, and found comfort in the everyday moments.

Austin had a genuine care for others that you could feel whenever he spoke. Almost every day he’d ask me, “Are we there yet?” about the shift, and I’d remind him we still had a ways to go. That memory will stay with me, pushing me forward and reminding me to keep going, keep laughing, and to keep sharing his light. 

Austin, my little big brother, you are so deeply loved and forever missed.

To the family members who will read this, you all raised an amazing human being. He was a gentle giant, and every day we got to work together, this was our routine. He would come in, he would say hi chefo, give me a hug, I will say hi austino and we would get to work. Austin started as a line cook when I was a line cook. He supported me and rooted for me for every achievement I had, all the way to exec sous, which I dont think I could have done without his support. I have the years of the talks about life, our dog babies, random other things. He always made me feel loved and he was more than a friend to me, he was my family. We looked out for each other, we would have late night talks making sure we were both ok. I always joked that if he left kateen he would need to let me know so I could leave cuz he wasnt gonna leave me with these crazies haha. He made me nachos which is silly, but they were austin nachos and it was our thing. He liked to place stacks of cooked tortilla chips on my pass which annoyed me but was a funny way to be connected. I think the last time he did it last week I threw it back at him as he laughed, just sister brother teasing. I loved him so much. Im just blessed I got to spend the last almost 4 years with him. He will definitely be missed, not as my coworker, but as my friend and my family.

Austin was the best friend anyone could have we miss you brother I wasn’t on this trip with him b but just sharing to show how full of life he was ! Love you brother !

I will remember Austin for being extremely hard working, kind and brave. The way he was able to handle real life situations in real time and the way he always knew what to say to make someone feel better when they were down. I shared some of my deepest secrets with him and I always was able to speak to him about any situation good or bad in real time he always stayed up so late just like me and was never but a text phone call or direct message away. He & I shared a birthday 10/10 we always would talk about. I know he will be missed deeply by his family and friends. I know I will miss my brother
