My abuelito was an inventor. My favorite memory was when he tried to create a device to get people to stop snoring - it was creative to say the least. 

I remember a toilet paper roll and head strap being used to prop up the neck so that the snoring would stop. Who knows whether or not it worked…but if anything it showed me how selfless my grandpa was and how caring he always will be in my eyes. My heart is heavy but I would not be the person I am today without his spirit and guidance. 

I was 16 years old.  And after finishing the 4-10pm closing shift at Lucky’s - store #467 - I helped push start a Triumph TR6 owned by at that time my “Workplace Friend”, Sergio. But before his usual ‘hurry up and take off before it breaks down again’ speed away home he invited me over to his house for a bite to eat. “Hmm… alright, why not?” Upon entering the kitchen door I was greeted by two of the brightest and loving smiles any one could ever imagine. Yes, Mom and Dad Cardenas’ loving welcome changed my life from then on. After that, no matter how often I visited, which was quite often, Daddy-C, which I prefer to think of him as, always greeted me with that never ending smile and a kindness that I’ll always hold dear to my heart. And I’ll always remember the last words he said to me after we shared a heartfelt hug, which was— “Damon, I want you to know that I love you and you will always be a part of this family.” So many years, so many smiles and so much love. Rest In Power and Rest In Peace, Daddy-C. I’ll Love You Always. 💞💞🙏🏾💞💞

2021- so blessed to have memories with my kids and their great grandfather. Te amo grandpa 🕊❤️

Heaven receiving my papa 💖💖💖💖

Many memories of hanging at the house as a kid and teenager.  Mr. Cardenas (Ross) always treated me like one of the family.  He was so funny and such a good sport. Practically a second father. Was so proud to be at their 60th wedding anniversary.   Such a lovely family sprang from that union.  My heart is with you all.  When I see you again Ross I know we will laugh.  Rest in power dear Ross.

Praying for peace and comfort to all of you as you  celebrate  Daniel’s life as a loving husband , father and grandfather. May you cherish the memories  of him and hold them close in your heart forever.
