John was born in Slayton, MN to Raymond E. and Grace Prinsen in 1944. In 1952, the family moved to Bellflower, CA. John graduated from Mayfair High School in 1962. He worked in the meat cutting industry for over 50 years. Over the years, John owned two businesses, Ray’s Frozen Food Locker in Bellflower, CA, and Dutch Western Meat Equipment in Atlanta, Texas. He also sold real estate in Texas for a number of years. He retired from the Department of Defense in 2009, where he was the meat manager at the Lompoc Commissary.
John grew up attending the Bethel Reformed Church in Bellflower, CA, and later became a member of the Brethren Church. He was a member of the Eagles 2743 and Moose 796 in Bellflower, CA. He also served as an administrator for the Moose in Santa Paula, CA. John loved to spend time fishing and golfing.
John is survived by his mother, Grace Prinsen, two daughters, Corina Long (Lance), Laura Witt (Bryan), three granddaughters, Cheyenne Wilson, Samantha Wilson and Kaitlynn Witt. Dear friend, Debbie Zambrano, sister, Linda DeLeon (Nick), two Uncles Marion L. Overman (Annie), Tony Overman (Juanita), three Aunts Luella Reitsma, Anna Mae Boatright (Jim), Neva Tinklenberg (Leon), nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Bethel Reformed Church 10012 Ramona St. Bellflower, CA 90706 on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
