Mrs. Julie Danks was my English teacher at Marshall Middle School during sixth and seventh grade from 1996-1997. I had a fun time with her. She was one of my favorite English teachers. She will be missed.

It was a pleasure and honor to work with Julie at Grant Elem. She was a great teacher who inspired students and colleagues with a giving spirit and an open heart. Julie's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Breakfast ready at the counter when I woke up. My uniform washed and folded on the bed. My lunch made with apple wrapped in foil. Water bottle washed and ready for ice. Aunt Julie down the sideline during the game, ready and waiting with mini-cooler snacks and encouragement between games. Happy birthday sign waiting on the kitchen counter. House decorated for each and every holiday. Honda pulling up in the driveway. Beautifully written notes and letters. Presents wrapped with the bows on the diagonals. Fudgsicles in the freezer. Sodas out on the patio. Cotton ball game at the birthday parties. Aunt Julie playing host so we could have our girlfriends over. Car washed when I walked outside. Bags and snacks packed for our trips. Just a few of the million things she did for me on a day-to-day basis growing up. I was always amazed that she would do all these things willingly, selflessly, effortlessly, happily. My Aunt Julie was by far the most positive and encouraging influence in my life and I know that she played this role for many others too. How she found the time and the energy we will never know. She was simply amazing and I will treasure her love and our memories forever.

Julie was always there from me as I transitioned from private school to Marshall Middle School. She always had time for me and anyone else who needed sage advice, a smile, or a story - and she had some wonderful stories. She touched so many lives and she will greatly missed. I'm blessed that she was in my life

An AMAZING woman, greatly respected by her fellow teachers and LOVED by her students.  The world has lost a great light.

I will always cherish my memories of you.

I received a call from my sister telling me she saw Ms. Danks obit.  She was my teacher back in 72 or 73.  Her and Ms. Lilja (spelling) had such an influence on me that I too went into education field (on my 23rd year) and currently an Assistant Principal at the high school level.  I am sure she had an impact on 100's of students.  Such a loss to so many.  My deepest sympathy to her family and friends.  God Bless (Geri Golden-Antoine, Bakersfield, CA

Julie was one of the finest teachers with whom I had the pleasure of working.  She encouraged new and experienced teachers and demonstrated exemplary patience and skill with children.  I am probably one of hundreds of teachers whose life she touched, and those of us who had the luck and pleasure to work with her will never forget her example.

 Words are not enough to express how sorry I am for your loss. I have prayed to God to provide you the strength and courage you need in order to handle this difficult moment. We have to remember that Julie could make you smile no matter what was going on in your life.  She will always remain in my heart for her caring and love.  The friendship she gave was always unconditional, there was never any doubt that she would be there for you.  Thank you Erin for the pictures, that is so how she lived her entire life with nothing but happiness. Peace, prayers and blessings to your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was friends with Julie on Facebook and had some wonderful conversations. I knew Julie years ago and from what I have read,  she was there for all of you. She never changed, always about family. You are all blessed to have had Julie in your lives. Again, I am so sorry....

I was on my way to church when I got the news that my Super-Teacher had made her transition. I am grateful for the few days before she left us, gives the family a little time to adjust. Julie taught 7 of my nine children, and we worked together until she decided to "Go home and spend time with family" her words to me. I admired and am grateful for the many times she encouraged me to hang in there, with my kids, my education, my marriage and even the job. I can hear her voice as I am typing this, telling Kyles "Boy, you better pass that exit exam, or I'm coming over there and put you in a headlock". Thanks for the memories.... Always

Julie has touched so many of our hearts with her love, goodness, and kindness. I remember she always had a gingerbread cookie for my youngest son, Matt, sitting in Marshall's stands watching a volleyball or basketball game while one of my other children (Robyn or Chris) played. 

When my husband, Steve, was ill with cancer, Julie found a recliner her neighbor wasn't using, cleaned it thoroughly, and brought it over so Steve would be comfortable. Such a giving, compassionate woman just like her daughter, Erin.  

Julie was a great person, teacher, friend, and will truly be missed. I am sure she is having wonderful conversations with family and friends who have gone before her and probably have met some new ones! Much love to Julie and to her family.

Thank you for sharing all those wonderful pictures. Seeing them brought back many happy memories of time spent with your mom. I continue to send my love and support. Sadly, I won't be able to fly out and celebrate her life with you but I will most definitely be with you in spirit. Despite the distance and time spent far from home I always knew I could count on "Danks" for love and encouragement. I still do. I hope you know you can count on me for the same. It's been my great honor to know and love your mom. I look forward to seeing her again.

Dear Mom,

To the most amazing woman in my life. You've always had unconditional love for me. No matter what I was going through in my life you've always been my biggest supporter when I had doubt about life decisions or if I thought I may not be able to do what was in front of me. I have saved every note of encouragement you have given me throughout my 40 years. They are reminders of your love and dedication to your child. I could not have asked for a better mother. You've been through so much in your life and remained a rock for your family. Raising your brothers and sisters, then your own children as a single parent, then helping raise many nieces and nephews, your grandchildren, and being a surrogate parent to many of your students. You always gave so much of yourself, without asking anything in return but for those in your life to be happy and healthy. May your legacy remind others that you have touched so many lives. I know you are with Gram looking down on me today, and I am so thankful to be your daughter. Every day is a reminder of the beautiful soul you were and still are in this world. Each day presents a memory to me that I am extremely blessed to have you in my life. You will always be with me. I love you more than words could say....
