I recall her as a hard-working, very bright, energetic and dedicated colleague who was of immense help to students as both a Counselor and an Articulation Officer at Diablo Valley College.

Marilyn.  I did find you Larry today.

To all of Larry and Marilyn's, children.  I am so sorry to be writing this so late . As I did not know your mother had passed away intill I went out to visit your father and was looking for his plot and could not find then Googled  to help me and seen your mother had also passed away. Thinking of you in sympathy and our love. Those that know the Lord, never see each other for the last time. There's no doubt in our minds. She's with Grandpa and Grandma and her siblings and many other relatives.  Just think of the rejoicing in heaven for her. They're all celebrating with God. How awesome! We knew she was suffering. She was so ready to go see her Savior. She was my rock, she has helped me through some very difficult times. I knew no matter what, she was just a phone call away. She was a great prayer warrior. You were so blessed to have her in your lives. She was a lot like my father; you never had to wonder what they were thinking...they would tell you. They loved God and they were so full of life, wanted to make sure we were on the right track. The Brower family, all of them, were always great to be around; always love and a lot of laughter. I feel bad that over the years we never got to spend a lot of time together. We were all over the US and hard to get everyone together.

Just want you to know, you're in our thoughts and prayers. Hold on to your many good memories of your mom, grandma. We have many fond memories of Aunt Marilyn, and will hold them dear in our hearts. May God give you strength and comfort in the days ahead.

We're so sorry for your loss. 

It seems I have on hand a card for every occasion: birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, new home, co-workers, thank you, congratulations and thinking of you.  But my subconscious overlooks "sympathy" cards in the card display. 

Just thinking of losing another loved one, family or friend, is beyond my comprehension. The grieving, the loss, the hole left in one's life. And yet, over time, the ache diminishes. Memories, snapshots in the mind, continue to invade our thoughts, triggered by a color, or a flower, a scent, an object, a photo, a place revisited. What a remarkable feeling to recall a loved one and remember you were loved as you loved them.

It's funny, really, in that I usually just send off a sympathy card : just signed, sealed and posted. In hopes that missing someone is just as simple as putting it in an envelope and sending it somewhere for keeping. But yesterday, after Darlene called to say that Marilyn had passed, I started to think about her. In little "snapshots".

I am reminded of her smile, giving nature, tenacity, and the love she gave to family and others. She will be sorely missed, as we usually had a good chat during family gatherings.


I have so many memories of Marilyn. She was my Mother’s best friend for over 40 years. She was another Mother to me and babysat my brother and I when we were little. One of my favorites was when she told us that if we didn’t take naps after lunch, Larry was going to come home from work and eat us. My brother, Steve, refused to eat lunch for awhile after. 
Marilyn was our librarian at NCS when I was in elementary. I was in 3rd grade and our teacher gave us a challenge to read so many books by a certain time. We all went to the library to check out books. Marilyn and I looked all over the library to find a book that I could read. We found one and as it turned out so many others. Every time I went to the library, and it was daily sometimes, she stopped whatever she was doing and we would search for a book. A few years ago, she showed me some of the books from the library that she had and my name was the only name on the card. I suspect there were many books that I was the only one that read them. I wonder if she really knew the gift she gave me. I have read thousands of books since then and always think of her when I read. 
I will miss talking about books with you, my 2nd Mama! Thank you for everything! 

Marilyn and I became friends over 40 years ago. The Lord brought us together and we were not only friends we became prayer partners and sisters in the Lord. 
We prayed for each other’s families and shared the joy that each grandchild brought. We shared our deepest sadness and joys. We spent time together and cultivated a trusting relationship. Marilyn loved God’s word. We spent time in our Bibles and looked for new scriptures to help us through the day and relied on our old favorites for comfort. 
I have a picture of her and the frame says “Life is better with friends.” My life will be forever blessed because I called her friend. Robert, Michelle and Jill, I love you very much!
