

Melvin W. Burger passed away in his family home on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at age 82 after a long history of heart problems. He was born on August 10, 1929 in Buffalo, Wyoming to parents Melvin C. and Ethel C. Burger. He attended Johnson County High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1947 and proudly served as a Seabee in the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan and Adak, Alaska. He moved to Southern California after his service in the early 50's, working for Southern California Edison as a mechanic and garage foreman until his retirement in 1984 after 31 years of service. After his retirement he traveled extensively throughout the United States with his wife Marjorie.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marjorie E. Burger of Bellflower, CA, his four children Sharon C. Burger of Bellflower, CA, Susan L. Thompson (husband Jay) of Cincinnati, OH, Larry G. Burger (wife Georgia) of Grapeland, TX, Kenneth L. Burger (wife Cary) of Cypress, CA, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother Ethel, his father Melvin, and his brother Warren.
His courage and bravery throughout years of medical problems inspired us all. The memory of him fills us with joy and laughter. He will be greatly missed.
