

Born at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, Mass.
Died peacefully at the Bob Kemp Hospice surrounded by his loving family. Cherished and loved husband of Donna (Nee – Scott) for 22 years. Devoted father of Michael, Catherine, Maria, Danielle, and John-Paul. Also survived by his brother Ronald McCann, his sister Linda Johnston (wife of Wayne Johnston), and their children Jennifer and Matthew, all of Saint John, NB. Predeceased by his loving parents Gordon and Mary McCann (Nee – Connolly) of Saint John, NB. David’s other family was his disaster response team, Florida One Disaster Medical Assistance Team, deploying out of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, under the auspices of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. David was the team’s Chief Medical Officer since 2004, and coordinated medical disaster relief preparations in numerous places including Port au Prince, Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, and Mississippi and New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. David also responded to the 9/11 tragedy in New York City. David was never so happy as when serving disaster victims with his beloved Florida One DMAT. Friends may call at the Marlatt Funeral Home, 195King Street West, Dundas on Wednesday, August 10 from 7-9 and Thursday, August 11 from 7-9p.m. Prayers will be held on Thursday at 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 58 Sydenham Street, Dundas on Friday, August 12 at 10am. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the World Organization of the Ovulation Method--Billings (WOOMB)--Canada, a natural family planning organization to which David was committed for many years.
