Frederick Oliver Martin

July 7, 1917 - May 9, 2012.

Fred was born in Hamilton and died there in St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband for over 70 years of Norma Jeanette Skelding who died in December, 2011.

Dear father of Rick (Anne Zurrer) of Brantford, Margot (Thomas Pick) of Kitchener, and Elizabeth (Richard Nicolary) of Sausalito, CA, USA. Treasured Gramps to Heather Martin (Justin To) of Ottawa, Lindsay Martin (Bradley McCallum) of Guelph, Erick Martin (Kimberly Steward) of Houston, TX, USA, Alison Pick (Degan Davis) of Toronto, and Emily Pick of Guelph. Devoted GG to 4 great-grandchildren, Cohen, Ayla, Zuri and Freddy. Also survived by and his sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Ben Bensen of Damariscotta, ME, USA and his sister-in-law Peter Martin of Ottawa, wife of his late brother Ross Martin. Predeceased by his parents Frederick Richard (Fritz) Martin (1934) and Alice Barbara Macdonald (1965) of Hamilton.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff on the sixth floor of the Mary Grace Wing and the Step-Down Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital, as well as his residence Amica Dundas, for their compassionate care and kindness, especially during Fred’s final 4 weeks.
