I was very sadden to hear of Gord's passing.  We developed a friendship after working together at Nelson High School.  We were often there for each other.   Till we meet again.

I attended Gord's memorial today, and I thought it captured beautifully what he was about. I was not a close friend but met him over 50 years ago through Bob Wynne. Over the years our paths crossed many times. We had a lot in common-Chedoke P.S., Westmount S.S., MAC football and basketball games, we played golf a few times etc., etc. I last saw Gord at the MAC vs. U. Calgary football game and, as always, enjoyed talking to him. Gord was a very nice and engaging guy, and I am so sorry he has left us. All the best to Gord's family.

I remember him as "Mr. J" (and carved him a wooden plaque that he had hung in his office at school).  He gave me a lot of time and support while I was a student at Nelson.  My condolences to all of you for your loss.  I am thinking especially of you Carol...

We were shocked by the news that "Gordie" (as I will always think of him) had passed.  His quiet manner, wit, and caring nature will no doubt be missed by all who knew him.  Our hearts go out to those closest to him.

My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to Carol and to Brent and Lauren and to Gord Sr. and to all of Gord's relatives on this tragic loss. I have known and deeply respected Gord for over thirty years through our mutual association with McMaster Basketball and was proud to call him a friend. Gord was thoughtful, kind and intelligent and was extemely passionate about the things in his life that he loved; and basketball was one of those things. For over four decades, Gord seldom missed a Marauder game unless he had previous committments with his grandchildren that he deeply loved and adored, and if he did miss a game, everyone noticed that Gord was not in the gym and it just didn't seem right. The world needs more people who have the kindness, loyalty, intellectual curiosity, empathy, perspective and genuine concern for others that Gord exhibited. He will be missed a great deal but will never be forgotten, because he made the world a better place.

As a first year student at McMaster University, Gord took the time to coach grade nine players at Westmount High School, becoming my first basketball coach.  He ignited the passion that I will always have for the game. Since that time he has been a role model in many different aspects of my life and a good friend. I am very fortunate and grateful that Gord came into my life.  You will be greatly missed.

Carol, I've only worked with you for a very short time, I did not know Gord, but would like to pass on my heart felt condolences to you and your family in your time of sorrow, loosing anyone is hard enough but to loose someone suddenly is even more difficult. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I'd like to pass on this little phrase my mom has hanging in her kitchen she put there after my father passed suddenly in 2006. "Tomorrow is not promised us so let us take today and make the most of it"

Letting the Jackson family know how fondly Gord is remembered by many friends from Westmount Secondary School. Not only was he our star basketball player back in the '60's, but he was a kind, gentle, loyal friend.  I was so glad to see him at our Reunion in May.  He looked great!  I hope that your loving memories of good times with him will help you at this sad time.  He will always be with us in our hearts and memories.

life and remained friends forever
The list of acculades as they relate to Gordie are all true and our world has lost a real decent man and friend.

The shock and sadness that followed Gords' passing is still with us, eventually the thirty some years of fond memories with Gord will take over. Gord Jackson was one of the 'Good Guys', he loved and cared deeply for his family, he was generous with his time, his gift for meeting people and making lifetime friendships
was truly inspiring. He will be missed by so many.

Carol I was shocked to hear about Gord.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the Jackson family.  I have known Gord since Sandra and Gord (Chaput) started dating many years ago.  He always had a smile on his face and always asked how I was.  He will be greatly missed.

Our sympathies and prayers to Gord's family.  His wisdom & passion expressed on the Discussion List will be missed but more importantly his presence and family leadership will be greatly missed.  His absence at the McMaster games, his analysis and perspective of each game was something his B-Ball colleagues looked forward to.  Gord was a wonderful and respected person.  Due to previous commitments we will be out of the country on Thurs. and therefore will be unable to attend the Memorial Service.  Our prayers and thoughts are with Gord's family.

I am greatly saddened to think that our world has lost Gord.  I will miss him at Nelson reunions and on the golf courses, but I won't forget the kind, calm, genuine person he was.  And how he could appreciate a good joke or story (often at his own expense -- e.g. -- the hip-wader accident) with those smiling eyes and rumbling chuckles!

We have lots of good memories you and I, but despite our memories, this is ruff, ruff, ruff. 

I miss our rides in the truck, long walks in the conservation area without the collar/leash, the dog park, tug-o-war with your slippers, embarrassing you in the new neighbourhood, slurping the last sip of your coffee and sharing your apple-a-day.

But most of all I just plain miss you. I'm guarding the house and keeping your spot in the bed nice and warm.

In 1981 I met Gord when he was a guest speaker at the Dofasco Angling Club.  His speech was so rousing that a commitment was made that evening to the Ontario Steelheaders to build an egg box!  We also joined him on the Beatty Saugeen river to see the fry hatching.  Sport fishing has lost a tireless worker.  At Nelson High School our two sons enjoyed Gord's classes.  May warm memories comfort you.

I first met Gord in  when he came to the Dofasco Angling Club as a guest speaker. His talk on egg boxes for raising Steelhead Trout was so rousing, that before he left we had committed to building a box for them.
The next stage was a visit to the Beatty Saugeen River to see the fry hatching. The beginning of a lasting friendship.
My boys enjoyed being in Gord's classes at Nelson.
He will be missed in fisheries conservation circles.

We only became neighbors a year ago, but we are deeply saddened.  Gord was a thoughtful man, full of knowledge, and a good friend to all of us.  Our deepest condolences to the family.

Gord was a memorable teacher, friend and colleague to so many. His openness to people and desire to share his passion for his hobbies and interests was something my brother and I will not forget...particularly his love of fishing and the conversations he would share with fellow enthusiasts. Gord's joy of life, kindness and respect, will be remembered by us all.

What a shock to hear via friend, Pat. I enjoyed my working relationship with Gord at Nelson. He was the kind of guy whose memory will continue to bring smiles. He had a great sense of heart and followed that. His love of family, 2 legged and 4, is well known. I am so sorry that Gord's family has had to say this goodbye to him. I am glad I knew him. Gord Jackson. Yes. Thoughts go out to all his family and friends.
