Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Ninette Allen, her brother Thomas, and her husband Colin. She is remembered by her three sons, Allan, Charles (Julie), and William (Katherine). Cherished Gran of Zoe and Finn. Survived by her brother Don Maples and her sister-in-law Yimei Wang-Allen.
Jean was a fiery and hardworking member of the American Orchid Society, and was known for participating, judging, writing and editing society publications, and training future judges.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held in Ottawa at a future date.
Donations in Jean's name are not necessary but appreciated. The family would ask you support the American Orchid Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
