

Ann (Provera) Costello, 98, of Glastonbury and formerly of East Hartford, loving wife of 44 years of the late George Costello, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at her home in Buckingham Heights, Glastonbury. Born in Middletown on July 26, 1925, a daughter of the late Peter and Marjorie (Giovo) Provera, she had been a resident of the East Hartford area for over 70 years. Ann was a graduate of Bulkeley High School in Hartford, class of 1943. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a paraprofessional for many years by the town of East Hartford Board of Education.
A devout catholic, Ann was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Rose Church in East Hartford. She liked oil painting, knitting, sewing, copper tooling, and furniture refinishing. She also enjoyed spending the summers at the family cottage at Coventry Lake with her children and grandchildren. Most of all, Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her time with her entire family.
Ann is survived by two sons, Gary M. Costello and his wife Joan of Coventry, Kevin P. Costello and his longtime partner Tracy McKee of Bolton; a daughter, Linda Robbiati and her husband Joseph of Somers; six special grandchildren, Beth, Jeffrey, and Sarah Robbiati, Laura Krynick, Mary Costello, Timothy Costello; and five adored great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother, George Provera and his wife Anne of West Hartford; a sister, Elizabeth “Bettie” Mann of West Hartford; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Along with her beloved husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Aldo Provera of Hartford.
Funeral service will be Tuesday (July 9, 2024) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church of North American Martyrs Parish, corner of Main Street/Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, (Section T), Bloomfield. There are no calling hours. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Tuesday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ann’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford has been entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
