Anne was born on January 24, 1932, in Middletown, CT, to the late Michael S. and Nellie (LaPenta) Petruzzello. She grew up on Pearl Street and graduated from Middletown High School, Class of 1949. Anne was predeceased, in 2012, by her husband of 58 years, Joseph V. Conti, Sr., whom she met at a dance at Lake Compounce. Soon thereafter they built their life-long family home on Cipolla Drive, East Hartford, in which Anne took great pride. She was the last original homeowner on that street. Prior to retirement, Anne worked at Travelers, CBT Bank, and the Bushnell ticket office. Mom expressed tremendous love through her incredible cooking, and always found a way to bring everybody together through food, especially for holidays. She loved her Sicilian/Italian heritage and expressed it in many ways. Anne made every effort to support her grandchildren by attending their sporting events and other activities. She enjoyed shopping, holiday decorating, flower gardening and loved to travel. She took many trips over the years with her “Golden Girl” friends and family. She particularly enjoyed her many trips to Miami Beach. She was loving and accepting of everyone. A kind, gentle, positive and strong soul, always caring for others, she found the good in everything. She kept an upbeat attitude even with her recent health challenges. Most importantly, Mom always said “I love you” every chance that she could. Anne had strong faith and was a member of several Catholic churches over her years. Although her most prideful job was raising her two sons, Anne was also a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, and dear friend.
Anne is survived by her immediate family, two cherished sons James M. Conti of East Hartford and Joseph V. Conti and his wife Janine of Stratton, VT, formerly of Glastonbury. She leaves her three adored grandsons Michael A. Conti, Joseph (Joey) V. Conti III, and Derek J. Conti, all raised in Glastonbury. She also leaves behind family member, Albert DiLoreto, who was like another son to her who helped care for her in many ways, along with several nieces, nephews and close friends. She also leaves her best friend of more than 60 years, Jackie Bannon. We express special thanks from the family and from Mom to her loving and caring caregiver, friend and neighbor, Cathy Bryant, who has been on this journey with Mom for a long time. We also thank Dr. David Mintell and all her providers for care over the years. Along with her husband and parents, Anne was predeceased by her brother Salvatore Petruzzello of Middletown.
