

Anthony J. “Tony” Bellody, 93, of South Windsor and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal life with his loving family by his side on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Complete Care @ Fox Hill in Vernon. Tony was the beloved husband of over 70 years to the late Mary Lou (Trumper) Bellody. Born in Hartford on April 16, 1929, a son of the late Harry and Anne (Cataldi) Bellody, he had been a resident of East Hartford for most of his life prior to moving to South Windsor over eleven years ago. Tony was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1947 and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force Reserves during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he was employed for nearly forty years by the former Coracci & Sons Garment Co. in the southend of Hartford.
A devout Catholic, Tony was a faithful communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Windsor and formerly of St. Mary’s Church in East Hartford. He was a talented duckpin bowler who bowled in several leagues at Holiday Lanes in Manchester. He loved playing cards every Saturday evening with his wife, family members and friends, and on Mondays at the South Windsor Senior Center. He also liked solving crossword puzzles, going to the horse tracks and casinos, and rooting for his New York Yankees. Being a hands-on individual, Tony took great pride in being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved to support and cheer on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tony is survived by two sons, Richard H. Bellody and his wife Loraine of Torrington, Marc J. Bellody and his wife Michele of Torrington; his daughter, Maureen A. Bellody of Ellington; five cherished grandchildren, Regina Bellody of Seattle, WA, Laura Tyler and her husband Mark of Farmington, Christen Bellody and her significant other Jon Hughes of Framingham, MA, Jessica LeRoy and her husband Joseph of South Windsor, Aaron Bellody of Torrington; six adored great-grandchildren, Jake, Charlie, Kayden, Evan, Landon, and Mia; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Along with his wife and parents, Tony was predeceased by his sister, Marion Vendola of Berlin.
Funeral service will be Friday (March 10, 2023) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. Junipero Serra Parish, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, (Section F), Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. All attendees are asked to please go directly to the church on Friday morning. Anthony’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday (March 9, 2023) from 4 – 7 pm at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford.
