Arlene Mary Kay Higgins (Sweeney)

Arlene Mary Kay (Sweeney) Higgins, 53, of East Hartford, went to be with Our Lord on Tuesday, (August 9, 2011) with her caring family by her side at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Trinidad on August 17, 1957, a daughter of the late Henry and Vera Sweeney, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past eleven years. Arlene was employed by Met Life Insurance Company for over twenty years as an Account Representative. A devoted family lady, Arlene enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her three children. Arlene is survived by a son, Spencer Higgins of Florida; two daughters, Vanessa Higgins and Melissa Higgins both of East Hartford with whom she made her home; two brothers, Keith Sweeney of Kennesaw, GA, Solomon Sweeney of Trinidad; two sisters, Beverly Nunes of Trinidad, Lisa Sweeney of East Hartford; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday (August 13th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Justin's Church, 230 Blue Hills Avenue, Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning). Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
