

Barbara Ann (Mede) Ramos, 69, of Vernon, loving wife of 49 years of William Ramos, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Sunday, September 6, 2015 with her caring husband by her side at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Hartford. Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 26, 1945, a daughter of the late John and Hazel (Dorr) Mede, she had resided in East Hartford for several years prior to moving to Vernon in 1985. Barbara was a former Travel Consultant and a very proud and dedicated home maker, wife, mother, and grandmother who cared for her family as she was the “beating heart” of the Ramos family. She loved traveling with her husband (especially to Aruba and the Caribbean’s) and shopping. Barbara loved decorating for the holidays and participating in family activities. She was also involved with the management of her condominium association, and had a special love for dogs.
Along with her beloved husband, William, Barbara is survived by two sons, William J. Ramos of Vernon, Jeffrey J. Ramos and his wife, Darleen, of Colchester; a sister, Dorothy Mede of Fort Wayne, IN; a sister-in-law, Blanca Rosende and her husband, George, of Cape Coral, FL; three grandchildren, William T. Ramos, Everett Ramos, and Scarlett Ramos; her devoted pet dog, Savannah; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Friday (September 11th) with a celebration of Barbara’s life at 7 pm at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Friday (September 11th) from 4 – 7 pm.
