

David M. Allison, 67, of Tolland and formerly of East Hartford, ran his last race on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Hartford Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Hartford on January 12, 1951, a son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Connole) Allison, he had resided in East Hartford for many years prior to moving to Tolland over 25 years ago. David graduated from East Hartford High School, Class of 1970 where he was Captain of the Cross Country team both his Junior and Senior years, Captain of the Indoor and Outdoor Track teams in his Senior year, All Conference in Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track in his Senior year, and All-State as a member of the 4 x 440 Relay in 1970 as a Senior. David held several high school track records at East Hartford which lasted for many years. He then went to Central Connecticut State University, New Britain and graduated in 1975 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He later earned his Master’s Degree in Organization and Management in 1989 from CCSU, and was a member of the Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society in Business Administration.
Prior to his retirement in 2017, David was employed for over 20 years by Connecticut Natural Gas Company as a successful Sales Representative. He was proud to be honored for many years as the “Sales Representative of the Year” by CNG for his hard work and commitment. He was also employed for 15 years by the town of East Hartford Parks and Recreation Department where he was the Director of Youth Basketball, Track & Field, Park Rangers, and Winter sports.
David loved gardening and was known to grow large “Russian Sun Flowers” along with several other flowers and vegetables. He liked listening to music and created his own CD’s along with being an amateur disc jockey. David also was an avid, loyal fan of the New York Yankees and loved visiting the Rhode Island beaches with his family, especially Scarborough Beach.
David is survived by his two devoted daughters, Jennifer Necci and her husband, Matthew, of Glastonbury, Bethanie Gratton and her husband, Jason, of Manchester; two cherished granddaughters, Abigail Ann Necci and Riley Catherine Necci both of Glastonbury. He also leaves two brothers, Daniel “Butch” Allison and his wife, Janice, of East Hartford, Donald Allison and his wife, Deborah, of Manchester; two sisters, Darlene Allison of West Springfield, MA, Diane Allison of New Britain; an aunt, Theresa Roberts of Ellington; an uncle, John Connole of West Hartford; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Funeral service will be Friday (May 11th) at 9 am from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at the Community of SS. Isadore & Maria Parish at St. Paul‘s Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hebron Avenue/Wickham Drive, Glastonbury. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday (May 10th) from 3-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David’s name may be made to the Ray Crothers Scholarship for Track & Field, c/o CCSU Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 612, New Britain, CT 06050.
