Dorothy “Dot” (Irwin) Christiana, 97, of Manchester and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Manchester Manor. She was the beloved wife of 31 years of the late Carman F. Christiana of East Hartford. Born in Manchester on July 17, 1927, a daughter of the late Frank and Letitia (Magee) Irwin, she had been a lifelong resident of the Manchester/East Hartford area. Dot was a graduate of Manchester High School, class of 1945. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Aetna Life Insurance Company in Hartford as a Secretary for many years. She was a talented baker and was known for her delicious pies, especially lemon meringue. She loved to play “set back” and other card games with her friends as well as traveling with her friends. Dot enjoyed living on the family farm in East Hartford and hosting backyard picnics for family and friends to gather. Most of all, Dot was a proud and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who looked forward to Sunday afternoon dinners with her daughters and their families.
Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Linda G. Christiana of Manchester, Patricia J. Christiana and her husband James Iacobellis of Manchester, Karen J. Christiana of Old Saybrook; two cherished grandchildren, Nina Bloom and her husband Orion of Burke, Virginia, Samuel C. Iacobellis of Washington, D.C.; three adored great-grandchildren, Annie, Adalin, and Noelle; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
A private funeral service and burial at East Cemetery in Manchester will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or MACC (Manchester Area Conference of Churches), 466 Main Street, Manchester, CT 06040.
