Eileen Marie Sweeney (Wiggins)

Eileen Marie (Wiggins) Sweeney, 90, of East Hartford, wife of the late Edward A. Sweeney entered into eternal rest on Saturday (December 17, 2011) with her loving family by her side. She was born in Fall River, MA on September 18, 1921 to the late John Joseph and Mary (Sullivan) Wiggins. Eileen was a member of the Day Timers Club in Middletown and enjoyed the company and singing. She is survived by her sons, Timothy Sweeney of Rocky Hill, Jeffery Sweeney of San Diego, CA, and John A. Sweeney and his wife Darlene of Shelburne, VT; her daughters, Eileen Leroy and her husband Daniel of Niantic, and Mary M. Sweeney of Lyons, CO; her cousin Dotty Reilly-Walsh of Smithfield, RI; her grandchildren, Joel M. Sweeney, Jakob R. Sweeney, Fiona M. Sweeney, Colin A. Sweeny and Allie Danielle Sweeney; and her great grandchildren, Skylar and Gunner Sweeney. Besides her husband and parents, Eileen was also predeceased by her step mother Loretta Wiggins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (December 21, 2011) at 12 noon in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main Street Glastonbury. Family and friends may visit the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. The burial will follow in Veteran's Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
