
Floyd A. Huntington, 82, of East Hartford, died Thursday (January 24, 2008) at his home. He was born in Hartford, a son of Floyd A. Huntington and Gladys (Brusie) Huntington. He was raised in East Hartford and attended local schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and participated in the D-Day Normandy Invasion at Omaha Beach. He received an honorable discharge in 1946. He completed his senior year at East Hartford High School, graduating in 1947. He graduated from Bryant College in 1949 earning a B.S. in Business Administration degree. In 1951 he went to work for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and eventually became the assistant credit manager for United Aircraft, now known as United Technologies. He accepted a disability retirement in 1980 after 29 years of employment with United Technologies. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Elsie (Rossi) Huntington of East Hartford; a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Diana Huntington of Durham; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Dan Sweeney of Manchester; a beautiful and talented grandchild, Elena Huntington; two brothers and their wives, Harry and Nina Huntington of Manchester, Robert and Mary Jane Huntington of East Hartford; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Dube of Cape Cod, MA; a life-long friend, formerly of East Hartford, but now living in New Jersey, Ken Pinney; and some great party loving nieces and nephews who he shared many good times with. So long family and friends, it was great while it lasted! Funeral service will be Monday (January 28th) at 10:30 a.m. at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with Pastor Maureen Hawksley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Veterans Memorial Field-Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
