Gilberte “Jill” L. (Thibodeau) Hurley, 99, of Glastonbury and formerly of East Hartford, peacefully journeyed home to be with our Lord and join her husband Tom in heaven. Hurley, Jr. Born in Grand Isle, Maine on January 3, 1927, a daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Gagnon) Thibodeau, she had been a resident of East Hartford for 70 years prior to moving to Addison Place in Glastonbury five years ago.
Prior to her retirement, Jill worked for the former Hartford Times newspaper in Hartford where she met her husband, Tom. She then went to work for G. Fox & Co in Hartford for many years where she was a contingent sales lady. A devout catholic, Jill was a faithful and active communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford where she was a counter for many years and a member of the church Retiree’s Club. She was also a longtime member of the St. Christopher School grandparent’s club. Jill loved to play cards, watch the UConn women’s basketball team, cook, and entertain family and guests, as her home was always open for her family and their friends. Most of all, Jill was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jill is survived by her four sons, James P. Hurley and his wife Suellyn of Marlborough, Alan R. Hurley and his wife Mary of Holliston, MA, Thomas P. Hurley and his wife Mary of Niantic, Richard J.
