

Gloria J. (Farnham) Alff, 74, of East Hartford, loving wife of over 52 years of Gary D. Alff, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 after a courageous struggle with ALS. She passed at her home with her caring family by her side. Born in Hartford on April 1, 1948, a daughter of the late Burdette and Hazel (Gore) Farnham, she had resided in East Hartford for most of her life. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years as an Elementary School Teacher by the town of East Hartford Board of Education. Gloria was a former member of the East Hartford Junior Women’s Club and was an avid reader who looked forward to her monthly book club meetings. She loved working on her flower gardens, hiking, riding bicycles, skiing, snowshoeing, and bird watching. No crossword puzzle was too difficult for her. Most of all, Gloria was a proud and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her time with her entire family.
Along with her beloved husband, Gloria is survived by a son, Brian G. Alff of Vernon, CT; a daughter, Kristen J. Alff and her significant other, Mick Spicer, of Durham, NC; and two adored granddaughters, Elicia Tyson and Emily Alff. She also leaves four sisters, Trudy Brimley of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Rhoda Taylor and her husband Ralph of East Hartford, Cynthia Schroll and her husband Frank of Stuart, FL, Tina Mulvaney of Okeechobee, FL; several nieces, nephews, former students, and dear friends. Gloria’s family also wants to thank Gloria’s aid, Movita Plumber, who took loving care of Gloria and formed a close friendship with her over the past year.
Honoring Gloria’s wishes there will be no public funeral services. A private gathering will be held at the convenience of the family.
