Hilda M. (Wiznouckas) Buzzell

Hilda M. (Wisnouckas) Buzzell, 93, loving wife of 40 years of the late Wallace H. Buzzell, peacefully passed away with her caring family and dear neighbor by her side on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Northampton, MA on October 18, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Eva (Ponniczkas) Wisnouckas, she had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 75 years. Hilda was a graduate of Smith’s Agricultural School, Class of 1940, in Northampton, MA where she majored in Household Arts. Prior to her retirement she was employed for many years by the former Sage Allen Store and G. Fox & Company, both in Hartford. A devout Catholic, Hilda was a long-time communicant of St. Isaac Jogues Church, East Hartford and a member of the Tekakwitha Ladies Guild. She was a talented Duck-Pin bowler who participated in leagues at Holiday Lanes in Manchester. Hilda will be remembered for her Bran birthday cakes that she would make annually for her family members, and for being a lover of cats and dogs who would often feed many stray cats.

Hilda is survived by her daughter, Linda A. Rowe of East Hartford; her son, Thomas Buzzell and his wife, Bonnie, of Lakeland, FL; a brother, Eugene Wisnouckas and Karen Humphriss of Northampton, MA; three cherished grandsons, Gary Buzzell of Connecticut, Alan W. Rowe of East Hartford, Robert Buzzell of Maryland; a special close neighbor, Janet Denman of East Hartford; several nieces, nephews, former customers, and friends.

Funeral service will Friday (April 7th) at 9:30 am from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Isaac Jogues Church, One Community Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday (April 6th) from 4-7 pm.
