

Hugh Bourne Secker, 92, of East Hartford, loving husband of 64 years of June (Baylis) Secker, died peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Riverside Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, East Hartford. Born in Patterson, NJ on May 22, 1921, a son of the late Hugh B. and Annie (Robinson) Secker, he had been a resident of East Hartford since 1958. Hugh was a veteran of the United States Royal Air Force during World War II. Prior to his retirement, Hugh was a talented Taylor and Head Fitter at several area men's clothing stores, finally retiring from Brooks Brothers at West Farms Mall. Hugh was an avid reader who enjoyed listening to classical music and watching soccer. Most of all, Hugh was a family man who loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Besides his beloved wife, June, Hugh is survived by a daughter, Christine Hughes and her husband, Samuel, of Willington; two sons, Paul Secker of Manchester, David Secker and his wife, Gina, of East Hartford; three special grandchildren, Dianna Grindle and her husband, Matthew, of Coventry, Andrew Secker and Adam Secker both of East Hartford; one adored great-granddaughter, Ella Rose Grindle of Coventry; several nieces, nephews, and former customers. Private funeral services and burial will be at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Hugh's family will receive relatives and friends at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford on Thursday (May 8th) from 5-7 pm.
