
Irene A. (LeBlanc) Vengruskas, 80, of East Hartford, loving wife of over 30 years to the late Matthew J. Vengruskas, passed away on Thursday, (January 4, 2007) at the Salmon Brook Rehabilitation Center, Glastonbury. Born on December 14, 1926 in Peabody, MA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Helena (Larivee) LeBlanc, she had resided in East Hartford for the past 52 years. She was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1944. Irene worked for the State of CT, Dept. of Labor in Wethersfield as an administrative assistant, retiring in 1989 after 29 years of service. Irene enjoyed playing Bingo, miniature golf, and hitting golf balls at a driving range, yet her greatest joy in life was a being a grandmother and cheerleader at all the activities that her grandchildren were involved in. Irene is survived by a son, Michael J. Vengruskas and his wife, Debra, of East Hartford; two daughters, Ann V. Comforti and her husband, Joseph, of Westerly, RI, Linda H. Carlson and her husband, Brian, of Berlin; a sister, Helen Gervais of Hartford; seven special grandchildren, Karen (Vengruskas) Wilson and her husband, John, of Ellington, Lisa Vengruskas and her partner, Brian Garro, of East Hartford, Michael R. Vengruskas and Matthew J. Vengruskas both of Ellington, Joseph M. Comforti and Stephen M. Comforti both of Westerly, RI, Sean Carlson of Bristol; three adored great-grandchildren, Jaeden and Tayla Garro, and Owen Wilson; a sister-in-law, Ann Augustus in Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Tuesday January 9, at 9:30 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
