
James C. Mangan, Jr., 53, of East Hartford and Old Saybrook, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, (June 23, 2009) at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford on April 24, 1956, a son of Barbara (Smith) Mangan of Old Saybrook and the late James C. Mangan, he had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. He attended St. Rose School, East Hartford and was a graduate of East Catholic High School-Class of 1974, Manchester and attended Manchester Community College. Jim enjoyed fishing and swimming at Indian town, but will be best remembered for always having a camera and his love for photography. Jim was previously employed as a meat cutter by Top Notch and Shop Rite Supermarkets and for the last 16 years was employed by Quest Diagnostic as an evening dispatcher where he was responsible for all of the couriers on the second shift covering the entire state of Connecticut. Along with his beloved mother, Jim is survived by two devoted sisters, Sheila Pattison and her husband, James, of East Hartford, Betsy Mangan of Manchester; two nieces, Meaghan and Molly; a nephew, James; four aunts, Peggy Curry, Elida Mangan, JoAnn Mangan, Aileen Henningsen; many other extended family members and dear friends. Jim will be truly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be Saturday June 27, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Church, One Community Street, East Hartford with his cousin, Rev. Brian Sheridan, officiating. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning. A graveside service will be at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday morning at the Resurrection Cemetery, Route 145 North Horse Hill Road, Westbrook.
