

James N. Reynolds, III, 76, of Gilbert, AZ and formerly of Wethersfield, CT and Farmington, CT passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 in Gilbert, AZ after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was the loving husband of Patricia Reynolds. Born in Agawam, MA on September 26, 1941, a son of the late James N. Jr. and Inez (Lucardi) Reynolds, he had been a resident of Wethersfield and Farmington for many years prior to moving to Arizona. Jim attended Agawam schools and graduated from Agawam High School, Class of 1959. He also graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, Class of 1963 where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree, his Master’s degree of Business Administration from the University of Hartford, and his Chartered Life Underwriter from The American College of Financial Services. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1963 to 1969, earning the rank of Sergeant. Having spent his entire career in the Employee Benefits field, Jim worked at several Hartford, CT area insurance companies, retiring in 2002 as Vice President of Employee Benefits at Hilb, Rogal, & Hobbs Company in Hartford. A talented athlete, Jim was a longtime coach and official in local youth sports, including the American Legion baseball coach in Wethersfield from 1985 to 1992. Jim was an avid supporter of UCONN athletics and a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics, and New England Patriots. Jim also enjoyed fine wine and cooking.
In addition to his beloved wife Patricia, Jim leaves behind a daughter, Barbara Lewis and her husband, Gregory, and their daughters Samantha and Ava; a son, James N. Reynolds, IV and his wife, Deanna, and their son James N. Reynolds, V; a daughter, Ann Marie Reynolds and her husband, Douglas Rankin, and their sons Will and Ben; a daughter, Sharon Reynolds and her husband Dwight Otis; a stepson, Thomas Vickers and his wife, Diana, and their children Tyler and Abigail; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony’s Church, 111 School Street, Bristol, CT. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. (On behalf of Jim’s family, everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Monday morning). There are no calling hours.
