

Jean A. (Strong) Wishart, 83, of East Hartford, loving wife for over 58 years of Gilbert E. Wishart, Sr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 surrounded by her caring children at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on October 25, 1931, a daughter of the late Richard W. and Marjorie (Heine) Strong, she had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. Jean was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1949 and Middlesex Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1953. She was a Registered Nurse who worked at Hartford Hospital for over 20 years. A woman of strong faith, Jean was a long-time active member of South Congregational Church in East Hartford. At the church she served on many committees and groups (Board of Deacons, Finance, Knitting, Choir, and others) as she was a ""influential voice"" of her church. A talented individual, Jean loved quilting, knitting, golf, and crocheting and she enjoyed making various items for her family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling when her heath permitted, especially her cruises to Bermuda for her 25th Wedding Anniversary and to Alaska in 2002. Along with her devoted husband, Gil, Jean is survived by her five beloved children, Scott A. Wishart of Manchester, Gilbert E. Wishart, Jr. of Bristol, Kimberly J. Wishart and her partner, Laura Jenner, of Higganum, Dean R. Wishart of Fremont, NH, Dennis R. Wishart and his partner, Maggie Gribble, of Center Barnstead, NH; and six cherished grandchildren, Darryl R. Wishart of Derry, NH, Amanda Jean Wishart of Southington, Connor J. Wishart of Londonderry, NH, Chandler J. Wishart of Londonderry, NH, Cameron P. Wishart of Epping, NH, Kendall K. Wishart of Epping, NH. She also leaves two sisters, Shirley Anderson and her husband, Wayne Miller, of Jupiter, FL, Ellen Richards and her husband, Ernie, of West Palm Beach, FL; a special cousin, Jackie Croft and her husband, Jerry, of East Hartford; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Murphy of Groton Long Point, and two brothers, David L. Strong and Paul R. Strong both of Florida. Jean's family will receive relatives and friends on Good Friday (April 3rd) from 4-7 pm at the D'Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of her family. A memorial service celebrating Jean's life will be next Saturday (April 11th) at South Congregational Church at 11:00 AM, 1301 Forbes Street, East Hartford with Pastor Al Turner officiating.
