

John D. Kane, 87, of Wallingford, departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Regency House in Wallingford. Born in Hartford on August 3, 1929, a son of the late John and Lenore (Hartigan) Kane, he had resided in the greater Hartford area for most of his life. John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed working around his yard and walking dogs.
John is survived by a daughter, Maureen Sylvester and her husband, Steve; a son, John F. Kane and his wife, Carolyn; a sister, Nancy Sneider and her husband, Jack; three grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, and Matthew Sylvester; and a great grand dog, Hunter, whom he loved dearly. Along with his parents, John was predeceased by his sister, Audrey Visconti; and his longtime companion, Sandra Durn.
Graveside service with military honors will be Saturday (August 19th) at 10:30 am at Valley Falls Cemetery, Valley Falls Road/Tunnel Road, Vernon. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite # 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
