Kathleen Doyle Foley was my wife of 42 years. Indeed, I'm bias, but to me she was absolutely the best partner I could have chosen¿and thank goodness, she chose me. We were opposites and it worked. I drove the ship but, equally important, she steadied it. She was a fabulous cook and homemaker. We had no natural children but when UCONN student Jon Norbert entered our lives, we no longer gave it thought. Kathy was an excellent bookkeeper and worked for two different real estate development companies. Retiring early gave her extra hours for her favorite past times: puzzles, and most especially the many adventures with her sister Betty. She was born to Edward T. and Olivine Burnham Doyle on April 27, 1942. End of life came 74 years and 1 day later. We lived in a special house overlooking Shenipsit Reservoir. Many will recall the concerts there on the Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ and most especially the post-concert treats that Kathy and her sister Betty (Elizabeth A. Zizzamia) dreamed up and served by the dozens. Their brother Tom (Edward T. Doyle, Jr.) died last year. Betty's married to Francis M. Zizzamia. David Doyle of Vernon is Tom's son and is married to Caryn. They have two children: Josh and Ryan. All wonderfully close Doyles- -that do all the great things close families do. Kathy developed many medical challenges but none so comprising as the consequences of diabetes. She hoped that those wanting to do something in her memory would send a donation specifically to Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation, 1832 Connecticut Ave., NW, Suite 420, Washington, DC 2009: diabeteswellness.net. Her last days were in the care of the amazing staff at Hartford Hospital's Critical Care Unit. All unsung professional heroes who everyday guide patients and their families through some of their most difficult moments on earth. Thanks also the fine staff at DiVita Dialysis in Vernon CT. Calling hours will be 4-7 PM on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Patrick-St. Anthony RC Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford, CT. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Friday morning. Life will not be the same and I will miss her so very much. If you were lucky enough to have known Kathy, you'll understand what I mean. Thanks to everyone who helped. Mike Foley.
