

Madeleine “Maddy” (Labrecque) Casey, 93, of East Hartford, loving wife of 54 years of the late Richard J. Casey, passed away at her home with her caring children by her side on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Born in Moosup on April 4, 1930, a daughter of the late Arthur and Juliette (St. Cyr) Labrecque, she grew up and attended schools in Lawrence, MA where she graduated from Sacred Heart High School. Madeleine had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 67 years and was a former communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford.
Prior to her retirement, Madeleine was employed for several years by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford as a Head Waitress in their executive dining room. Madeleine enjoyed traveling with her husband and family to Portugal, Hawaii, Disney World and other destinations. She loved listening to music and going dancing with her late husband Richard. She also liked playing cards, cooking, and entertaining at her home for family and friends to enjoy. Most of all, Madeleine was a devoted and proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished each moment spent with her entire family.
Madeleine is survived by her two sons, Denis J. Casey of South Windsor, Steven J. Casey and his wife Patricia of East Hampton; her two daughters, Lisa M. Horan and her significant other, Bob Anielak, of Bristol, Mary-Ann B. Houghtaling and her significant other, Andy Vacco, of Wallingford; five special grandchildren, Melissa Horan of Unionville, Taylor Casey of Somerville, MA, Ryan Houghtaling and his wife Dalaina of Bryans Road, MD, Jordan Casey of East Boston, MA, Ashley Houghtaling and her fiancé, Isaiah Mayes, of Manchester; and one adored great-granddaughter, Haven Houghtaling of Bryans Road, MD. She also leaves two brothers, Paul Labrecque and his wife Joyce of California, Ronald Labrecque and his wife Elizabeth of Newbury Port, MA; three sisters, Claire Blackwell of Seabrook, NH, Frances Hastings of East Hampstead, NH, Jacqueline Fredette and her husband Hank of Florida; two brothers-in-law, Roy Marceau of Salem, NH, Walter Casey of Hartland; one sister-in-law, Shirley Hughes and her husband Stanley of Daytona, FL; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Along with her beloved husband and parents, Madeleine was predeceased by two brothers, Norman Labrecque and Lionel Labrecque; and four sisters, Loretta Cloutier, Georgette Rohr, Marcel Marceau, and Pauline Regan.
Funeral service celebrating the life of Madeleine will be Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 11 am at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 4 - 7 pm.
