

Mary E. (Bayers) Crowley, 88, of East Hartford, loving wife of the late John J. Crowley, passed away on Tuesday, (January 16, 2007) at her home. She was the only child of the late Stanley Bayers and Mary (Adams) Bayers-Titus. Mary was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1936. Mary started work at the State of CT Department of Health Services in 1938, and continued working for the same department until her retirement in 1984. In June of 1982, Mary married her husband, John J. Crowley, at Holy Trinity Church, Hartford and they enjoyed many years together. Mary was a communicant of St. Christopher Church, East Hartford, and enjoyed traveling and visiting many different places abroad. She was an avid bowler who participated in both the state department league and ladies' leagues, especially after she had retired. Mary is survived by her caring nephew, Gus Vaughan and his wife Joanne of Cromwell; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 20, at 9:30 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher Church, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Saturday, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary's name may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Connecticut, 111 Founders Plaza, East Hartford, CT 06108.
