

Michael Orin Fisher, 42, of Vernon, loving husband of over fifteen years to Lisa A. (Shirley) Fisher, journeyed home on Monday, (February 8, 2010,) surrounded by his caring family at his home after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Hartford on July 12, 1967, a son of Gayle (Scranton) Fisher of East Hartford and the late Orin W. Fisher, Jr., he resided in East Hartford for his young adult years and was a graduate of East Catholic High School in Manchester, Class of 1985. Prior to his recent retirement due to his illness, Michael was employed for over 19 years by the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections. Michael retired as a lieutenant from the District Administrator's Office but had previously spent over ten years at the MacDougall Walker Correctional Institute in Suffield. Michael was a proud father and took great pride in attending and supporting his daughter's functions and sporting events. He volunteered at many fund raisers and was a coach for the Connecticut Polar Bears Girls hockey teams, Eastern Connecticut Hockey Organization (ECHO), and Girls Softball for the town of Vernon Little League. Michael was an avid boater and member of the Westerly, RI Yacht Club; a loyal and faithful fan of the Boston Red Sox; and loved playing slo-pitch men's softball and recreational ice hockey. Along with his beloved wife, Lisa, and his mother, Gayle, Michael is survived by his dearly loved twin daughters, Morgan Shirley Fisher and Kelsey Orin Fisher both of Vernon; his brother, David B. Fisher of East Hartford; his sister, Kathleen 'Katy' Fisher and her partner, Nicole, of East Hartford; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edgar E. and Maureen (Wesner) Shirley of Wethersfield; his brother-in-law, Kevin A. Shirley and his wife, Cheryl, of Old Lyme; his sister-in-law, Lynda M. King and her husband, Scott, of Newington; his niece, Maya Fisher and his nephew, Jameson Fisher both of East Hartford; his two English Bull Dogs; and many other relatives and dear friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 13, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Isaac Jogues Church, One Community Street, East Hartford. (Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning). Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Vernon/Rockville.
