

Michael Joseph Piteo, 93, of Enfield, loving husband of 65 years of Sandra H. (Wilson) Piteo, peacefully passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023 at a local rehabilitation center after a brief illness. Born in Hartford on January 29, 1930, a son of the late Pellegrino and Minnie (Ravalese) Piteo, he had been a resident of Enfield for the past sixty years. Mike was a graduate of Weaver High School in Hartford, class of 1948 and later earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Connecticut. Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Mike worked as a successful Electrical Engineer for most of his professional career, retiring from R.E. Phelan Company in East Longmeadow, MA. Mike was proud of his accomplishment of developing twenty-two patents.
A devout catholic, Mike was a longtime former communicant of Holy Family Church in Enfield. A talented handyman, he enjoyed working around his house tinkering and repairing various projects. He was an avid gardener who was especially known for his tomatoes. He enjoyed spending time down at the Westbrook shoreline with his family and friends. Mike was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his time spent with his entire family. He made holidays special and shared many cookouts with his family and friends.
Along with his beloved wife Sandra, Mike is survived by two sons, Randy M. Piteo and his wife Shari of Glastonbury, Justin Piteo of Haddam; a daughter, Laura Shea and her husband Tim of Paris, KY; three grandchildren, Michelle Shea of Paris, KY, Warren Shea and his fiancée Haley of Kentucky, and Marissa Piteo of Glastonbury; two great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Piteo of South Windsor.
Private funeral service and burial with military honors at the State Veterans’ Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
