
It is with great sadness that we convey the passing of Michelina ""Mickey"" (Giliberto) Lauzier, but with joy that we were privileged to share the same path she walked in her journey from this earth to everlasting peace. Mickey was born in Hartford on September 17, 1929 and died on December 30, 2010 at the age of 81. She was the youngest daughter and the 11th of 16 children of the late Giuseppe and Sebastiana (Ferla) Giliberto. She is survived by her brother Orlando and his wife, Joan, of Pennsylvania, sister Paula Carroll of Florida, brother Joseph of Newington, and brother Gene and his wife, Betty Ann, of Arizona. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Paul, Salvatore, Ralph, Gaetana Attenello, Carmela Fambrough, Frank, Rinaldo, John, Paul, Daniel, and Paulina. She was the widow of her loving husband, Ralph Lauzier, of Keegan, ME. She has four sons, Chip Baker, Bruce Lauzier and his wife, Leah Flores, Mark Lauzier and his wife, Karen, and David Lauzier and his wife, Susan. Mickey adored her nine grandchildren: Stacy Lee, Thomas, Bruce, Evan, Nathan, Lauren, Adam, Matthew and Andrew. She also leaves two very dear lifelong friends, Midge Klein of Wethersfield and Mary Chellstorp of Windsor. Mickey graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1947. She worked for the Traveler's Insurance Company during her early working years and spent most of her working career as an executive secretary for the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections. There she worked to establish a union for clerical workers, served as steward and secretary, treasurer, vice president and national convention delegate for the retirees chapter. Upon retirement she worked as a sessional employee at the Legislative Office Building for the House Democrats. She was very active in the Democratic Party on the local, State and national levels. She was a member of the Democratic Town Committee and Chairperson of the EMS Commission in the Town of East Hartford. Mickey wished to express her love to all of her family and friends. Memorial services will be held Friday, (January 7th) 10 am at South Congregational Church, Forbes Street, East Hartford. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford.
