Robert Bob Bagley

Robert “Bob” W. Bagley, 86, of Tolland and formerly of East Hartford, entered into eternal life on Friday, June 8, 2012. Bob was the husband of 37 years of Jadwiga (Gwara) Bagley. Born in Waldoboro, ME on September 18, 1925, a son of the late Raymond L. and Shirley (Skay) Bagley, he had resided in East Hartford for over fifty years prior to moving to Tolland. Robert was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Prior to his retirement he was employed for forty years by the former Whitney Chain Manufacturing Company, Hartford. An avid golfer until his illness prevented him; Bob took great pride in getting a “Hole-in-One” on the Number 8 Hole at East Hartford Golf Course. He also enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing cards, and following his Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. Finally, Bob was a proud grandfather who taught his grandchildren how to swim and loved spending time with them. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Everett Bagley of Maine. Along with his wife, Robert is survived by three sons, Michael Bagley and his wife, Judy, of East Hartford, Robert O. Bagley and his wife, Denise, of Glastonbury, Carl Gorski and his wife, Amy, of Vernon; a sister, Beatrice Bragg and her husband, Thomas, of Augusta, ME; seven special grandchildren, Kevin Bagley and his wife, Melissa, of Coventry, Trisha Dahlquist and her husband, Jon, of Baltimore, MD, Rebecca Bagley and her fiancée, Steve Kiss, of Coventry, Tyler Brewer of Boston, MA, Cory Brewer of Glastonbury, Jennifer Gorski and Joey Gorski both of Vernon; several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will be Wednesday (June 13th) at 11 am at the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Military honors will follow outside the funeral home chapel. Private burial will take place at German Cemetery, Waldoboro, ME at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday (June 12th) from 5-7 pm.
