

Robert Daniel Carman, Sr., of East Hartford, loving husband of Paulina (Schott) Carman, passed away on Saturday (April 7, 2007) at his home. Born in Hartford, a son of the late Charles W. and Katherine (Flaherty) Carman, he had been a life-long resident of East Hartford. He was a graduate of East Hartford High School, and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne. Prior to his retirement, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of East Hartford, employed him for 35 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford and a member of the American Legion Post #77 and VFW Post #2083 both of East Hartford. Bob was a family oriented man who enjoyed spending quality time with his entire family, especially his six adored grandchildren. Bob would also attend dog shows and the Bushnell in Hartford where he saw many various shows. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles W. Carman II, and a sister, Charlotte Chamberlain, both of East Hartford. Besides his beloved wife of 48 years, Bob is survived by a son, Robert D. Carman, Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Glastonbury; three daughters, Paulina K. Carman of East Hartford, Rosemary Miller of Manchester, Christina L. Carman of East Hartford; a special grandson whom he raised like a son, VanRobert Carman of East Hartford; a brother, Russell Carman and his wife, Nina, in Georgia; two sisters, Katherine Smith of Manchester, and Maryann Ludwig; five other devoted grandchildren, Amy and Brian Carman both of Glastonbury, Colin Miller of Manchester, Crystal and Heidi Carman both of East Hartford; several nieces and nephews. Private funeral service and burial with military honors were held on Wednesday (April 11). There were no calling hours. The D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford was entrusted with the care of the funeral arrangements.
