

Shirley (Simoneau) Diggins, 80, of East Hartford, beloved wife for 64 years of Joseph Diggins, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 25, 2022. Born in Brentwood, NH on May 31, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (Rollins) Simoneau and had lived in East Hartford for over 50 years. Shirley devoted her life to raising her family. She was a very religious woman who had a deep devotion to God and she found joy in the little things in life. She loved Jesus, stuffed animals, “duck soup” and Pepsi.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Shirley will be forever missed by her husband Joe; three daughters, Linda Diggins-Domina and husband Wayne of Manchester, Kathleen Diggins of Burlington and Marjorie Witmer of East Hartford, and her six adored grandchildren, Michaela Sabinske and her husband Joe, Joseph Witmer, Clarissa Diggins, Brittany Gould, Michael Domina and his wife Yvonne and Matthew Domina. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was sadly predeceased by her two infant sons, Joseph and Peter Diggins and two brothers, Roy and Joseph Simoneau.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to Visiting Nurse & Health Services of CT, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066. The D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford, has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
