

Thomas D. Fitzgerald, of East Hartford, passed away on January 7, 2016. Tom was born May 13, 1960, the devoted son of the late George J. and Nancy (Wilson) Fitzgerald and lived in East Hartford his entire life. He was a graduate of the George J. Penney High School, where he competed on the cross country and track teams, and Manchester Community College and had recently retired from the State of Connecticut after thirty four years of service. He was a member of the East Hartford Democratic Town Committee, the East Hartford Planning and Zoning Commission, the Irish American Home in Glastonbury and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Tom was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He is survived by a brother, Paul Fitzgerald of East Hartford, his wife, Debora, and their daughters, Kathleen, Kelly and Carolyn, a brother, Robert Fitzgerald of Hebron, his wife, Elizabeth, and their children, Margaret, Kevin, Timothy, Colin and Madeline, a brother John Fitzgerald, of Wallingford, his wife, Gina, and their daughters, Erin and Chelsea, his aunts and uncles, Pauline and William Reynolds of Belmont, MA, John and Margaret Manning of Chelmsford, MA and Patricia Fitzgerald of Falmouth, MA and many cousins, colleagues and friends.
Funeral service will be Monday (January 11th) at 9:30 am from the D’ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 370 May Road, East Hartford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Roberts Street, East Hartford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Sunday (January 10th) from 2-5 pm.
