

Ginny grew up in Hartford and was always very active in her parish of St. Lawrence O’Toole, Hartford where she was involved with the CYO as well as the Christmas Bazaars. She attended The Mount, then went on to receive her B.S., and M.S., from St. Joseph College as well as her 6th year from BU.
After graduating from St. Joseph College, she spent the next 37 ½ years teaching mostly kindergarten for the Town of East Hartford, where she made every child, every year, a hand sewed Christmas ornament. After marriage, she moved to East Hartford where she remained active with St. Christopher’s Church of North American Martyrs Parish and became an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist in January of 1973. While on summer vacations in New Hampshire she, for 20 years, was part of the “A” team, as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Helen Church, a summer church for Our Lady of the Lake Parish of Laconia.
After retiring she spent the next 5 years testing ESL students in town. In her spare time, she made “Ginny’s Friends” hand sewed felt mice which have been sent around the world. Ginny was also active in the Pi Chapter of ADK an education organization of which she served as co-president several times. Along with being a past member of the East Hartford Lions.
Ginny is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Philip Ferlazzo. Her best friend Carol Kelp of Newington. Close cousins Richard Burns of Hernando Beach, FL and Marylee Burns of New York, NW. Brother-in-law Richard Ferlazzo and wife Barbara of Winter Springs, FL. Sister-in-law Carol Kim and her husband JinSong of Seagrove, NC.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11 am at St. Christopher Church of North American Martyrs Parish, East Hartford. Friends and relatives may call at the D’Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford prior to the mass from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Inurnment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Ginny’s husband would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at The Hospital for Special Care, Gena and Mary of Visiting Angels, and Heather and Rosemarie of Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care of Ginny.
