

Virginia “Dolly” (Calipari) Tozier, 90, passed away peacefully in Clinton, CT on June 19, 2021. Virginia was pre-deceased by her husband Charles “John” Tozier in 2007. They were married for 51 years living in East Hartford before moving to Clinton in 2002. She is survived by her children; Douglas (Lynn) Tozier of Centennial, CO; Susan (Joseph) Modugno of Sarasota, FL; Carol (Scott) O’Brien of Hope, RI; Jeanne (John) Archambault of Coventry, CT. Beloved grandchildren Kevin Tozier; Dr. Matthew (Megan) Modugno; Lauren (Colby) Pardue; Evan (Nikki) Archambault and great-granddaughter Amelia Rose Archambault. She is also survived by her sister Catherine Mullins of Port St. Lucie, FL. Virginia was predeceased by her brother Frank Calipari and sister Mary Aleo.
Virginia was born on May 1, 1931 in Hartford, CT to Joseph & Josephine (Mittica) Calipari. She graduated from East Hartford High School and the St Francis School of Nursing and started her career as an RN at St Francis Hospital. Virginia also worked as a Flight Nurse during the Korean War caring for injured soldiers, the EH Visiting Nurse Association, and ended her career as a Psychiatric Nurse at St Francis.
Virginia was a life-long caretaker of others. We knew her best as the life of any family gathering. Wherever she was, food, laughter, and joy would follow. She had an amazing sense of humor and always had a comeback ready.
Calling hours will be Saturday (June 26th) from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, services immediately following at the D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St, East Hartford. Burial will follow at St Mary’s Cemetery, Burnside Ave, East Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in the memory of Virginia Tozier to your favorite charity.
