

Walter Martin, 83, widower of Diane Marie (DiCarlo) Warner, of East Hartford, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Hartford Hospital.
Born on June 16, 1942, in Conyers, Georgia, Walter was the beloved son of the late George and Minerva (Durden) Martin. A high school graduate, he spent many dedicated years working in sales. He retired in 2006 from the Wonder Bread/Hostess Corporation, where he proudly served as a Route Salesman.
Walter enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep love for music and singing, and he delighted in performing whenever he could. A devoted New York Yankees fan, Walter also took great pride in caring for his yard and garden. He found joy in attending church, spending time outdoors, and sharing laughter with the people around him. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, warm and kind heart, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones and neighbors.
On September 15, 1996, Walter married the love of his life, Diane, with whom he shared many cherished years. He was a loving father to four children: Jere (Vicki) Martin of Georgia, with grandsons Desmond and Sherod Martin, Walter (Bethany) Martin of Georgia, with grandchildren Jameson and Ayden, Tara Thompson of Connecticut, with grandchild Christian Monts
He was predeceased by his son, John F. Martin and granddaughter, Breanna Monts
Walter is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, son and granddaughter, he was predeceased by two sisters and nine brothers.
In accordance with his wishes, Walter will be laid to rest in his family lot at Montgomery Jay Cemetery in Covington, Georgia with private services.
