Zigmund Walter Wnek, 84, of East Hartford, died peacefully at home on Friday, (February 8, 2013), after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Jeanette Marie (Goulet) Wnek. Zigmund was born in 1928 to Polish immigrant parents, Catherine and Walter Wnek, in Hartford. After serving two years in the Navy he was first employed by Royal Typewriter then Emhart Glass and finally retiring in 1993 from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He loved his children and took pleasure in the simple things; a meal with his family, UCONN Woman's Basketball and Judge Judy. He loved to laugh and had many amusing ""classic"" stories he was eager to tell. He valued hard work and lived a simple contented life in his East Hartford home for forty-five years. He asked for little and gave generously all that he could. He leaves behind his daughter Karen LeBaron and her husband Neal of South Windsor, his son Gary Wnek and his wife Trudy of Colchester. He also leaves four grandchildren, Jordyn Curtis, Cortney Shawver, Ryan Krawfsky and Kara Krawfsky along with one great-grandchild, Jillian Curtis. He was predeceased by his brother Felix, but leaves behind his sister, Julie Olk of Rockville and his brother Edmund Wnek of East Hartford, along with many nieces and nephews.
