Andres grew up in the Segundo Barrio he went to Aoy Elementary and on to Bowie High School. He was active in the El Paso Boys Club. He excelled in sports. He played in several local fast pitch softball teams and was inducted into the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2014. Andy was known as the homerun king by the media. He was best known for being the right fielder and catcher for the El Paso Jesters.
Andy worked for Farah Manufacturing and Rudolph Chevrolet for many years and he pursued his dream of owning his own business and opened Downtown Auto and Body Center in 1983.
Andy married his high school sweetheart Maria Estela in October 1963 and they had three children: Herman, Maria Estela and Velma Lynn. Upon retirement, Andy helped care for his parents and his youngest daughter Velma for many years due to health issues. His children were his greatest joy.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Jesus (Chuyito) Garcia, Aurora G. Hernandez, Sandra Hernandez and Marcos Garcia. He is survived by his wife Estela Delgado of 57 years, his son Herman Delgado, his daughters Maria Delgado Cazares (Vicente) and Velma Lynn Delgado. His grandchildren Denise Acuña, Anthony Delgado, Melinda Luevanos (Carlos), Andrew Menchaca, Alex Menchaca, Shae Delgado and Alexandra Delgado; great grandchildren Bella Acuña, Roman Acuña, Aiden, Tristen and Zaiden Curry, Andres Jesus, Adam Emmanuel (Pinguino), Leonardo Vicente and Eleanor Grace Luevanos and Ezekiel Quintero Delgado; and his siblings Francisca G. Marquez (George), Ralph Garcia Jr., Yolanda Garcia, Eva Marquez (Pat), Paul Alvardo (Nick) and Liz Bustillos. Andy was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws , friends and his dog Dak.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00pm, with Prayer service at 6:30pm, Thursday, July 22, at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue. Graveside service will be Friday, July 23, at 11:00am at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
