

Carmen Montalvo Villasana a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas passed away peacefully at her home on April 5, 2011. Carmen was born on December 5, 1937 in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico to Antonio Montalvo and Tomasa Tovar (both deceased). Survived by her brother Manual Montalvo (Socorro), sister Aurora Ramirez and children, Jose Luis Rodriguez (Rosario), Maria Del Carmen Mireles (Felipe Mireles), Rosa Maria Orenstein ( James Orenstein), Alejo Antonio Rodriguez (Maria Del Pilar), Cecilia Montalei (Mike Montalei), and Jaime Rodriguez (Michelle); adored 16 grandchildren and 5 precious great-grandchildren. She lived the American dream, immigrating to the USA in 1961, working to support her family as a single parent and seeing her children succeed in all walks of life. Working at Texas Western College (now UTEP), as a cook in the early 1960’s where she helped feed the 1966 NCAA National basketball championship team. Later in life she worked as a nutritionist at Newark Maternity Methodist Hospital before retiring in 1987. Carmen was a strong loving person who will be greatly missed. Your love is engraved in our hearts forever. Her blessed life continues to live through all her family. Visitation services will be held on April 8, at Martin Funeral Home 3839 Montana Ave.; from 5 to 9 pm with a rosary at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday April 9, at St Paul Catholic Church 7424 Mimosa at 9:00 am followed by interment at Mt Carmel Cemetery.
