Eduwiges “Vicken” Magallanez was born on June 24, 1935, to Manuel and Norberta Hernandez. From a young age sha learned the values of faith, family, hard work and resilience, values that would guide her throughout her long and meaningful life.
Eduwiges later married Ruben Magallanez after the passing of his first wife, Aurora. With a generous heart and unwavering devotion, she lovingly stepped into the role of helping raise his children, embracing them as her own. Together, Eduwiges and Ruben went on to build a large vibrant family, welcoming six more children and creating a home filled with faith, laughter and strength.
Eduwiges was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Magallanez, as well as children, Robert Magallanez, Ruben Magallanez Jr., Victor Magallanez, and Theresa Torres.
She is survived by her many children, both those she lovingly raised through marriage and those she brought into the world: Thomas Magallanez, Joe Magallanez, Juliana Steiner, Ma Luisa Shephard, Jesse Magallanez, Yolanda Joshua, Aurora Compean, Javier Magallanez, Arturo Magallanez, Alex Magallanez, Angel Magallanez, Margarita Corral, and Olivia Moreno.
Eduwiges also leaves behind many Son-in-laws, Daughter-in-laws, countless grandchildren, some great-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy throughout her life. Her family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Eduwiges was a woman of deep faith and unwavering devotion to her family. She was strong, independent, and full of life even into her 90th year. She found joy in the simple but meaningful things: preparing meals for the people she loved and tending to her garden with care and pride. Her kitchen and garden were places where love was shared, stories were told, and memories were made.
Above all, Eduwiges will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the deep love she had for her family. She leaves behind a lasting legacy carried by her children, grandchildren, and all those lives she touched. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and the lessons she shared will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave. El Paso, Texas 79903. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 9:30 am at Christ the Savior Catholic Church, 5301 Wadsworth Ave, El Paso, Texas 79924; with a committal to follow in Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave. El Paso, Texas 79906.
